Rubinstein's textbook is another great introduction to polymer physics (especially scaling principles, percolation, and fractal behavior), and Hiemenez and Lodge's book is a good resource for polymer chemistry. The Hiemenez textbook also has a good perspective on applications (from what I remember). A molecular view on the fundamental issues in polymer physics is provided with an aim at students in chemistry, chemical engineering, condensed matter physics and material science courses. An updated translation by the author, a renowned Chinese chemist, it has been proven to be an effective source of learning for many years.

Scientists find that tiny pieces of plastic travel great distances, threatening the ocean ecosystem. Pieces of plastic float here in ocean water. This pollution is a growing problem, and not just because it's ugly: Plastic can kill many kinds of marine life. By Alison Pearce Stevens. Ap at am. Plastic is defined as a material that contains as an essential ingredient an organic substance of large molecular weight. It is also defined as polymers of long carbon chains. Carbon atoms are linked in chains and are produced in long chain molecules. Plastic was discovered by famous German chemist Christian Schonbein in Plastics were.

This book shows the relationship between processing parameters and product performance by examining morphology in terms of texture and orientation. The structure and characterization, thermal and Physics of plastics book properties, shaping methods, and deformation and fracture are explained. Plastics are part of everyday life and contribute immensely to the benefit of humanity.

When failures occur, they are due in part either to inferior properties (resulting from poor design or badly controlled processing), or to an incomplete understanding of the properties and applications of plastics : Springer US.

Physics of Plastics by Arthur W. Birley and a great selection of related books, art and collectibles available now at Formation and Structure The basic structure of plastics (or polymers) is given by macromolecule chains, formulated from monomer units by chemical reactions.

Typical reactions for chain assembling are polyaddition (continuous or step wise) and condensation polymer- ization (polycondensation) [1] (Figure ). This book focuses on the effects of radiation exposure within that environment, providing in-depth data coverage organized by category of polymer.

Aspects such as radiation impact on mechanical and thermal properties, including glass transition and heat deflection temperatures, are described, demonstrating how changes in these properties affect the performance of plastic or elastomer.

This book examines essential concepts in Solid-State Physics. The accompanying DVD, containing 40 lectures of approximately an hour each, provides the student with the classroom experience.

Animations are also included in the DVD to enable a more visual experience to understand the discussed concepts. Physics of plastic deformation tic deformations, of course, the rotation effect and the associated spin is the essence of the theory, and the subject is considered in detail in the next section.

On returning to (14) we view it along with (13) and (12) as the basic vehicle for accom- plishing the micro-macro by:   Polymers constitute the basis for the plastics, rubber, adhesives, fiber, and coating industries.

The Fourth Edition of Introduction to Physical Polymer Science acknowledges the industrial success of polymers and the advancements made in the field while continuing to deliver the comprehensive introduction to polymer science that made its.

This book promotes the relationship between processing parameters and product performance by first examining morphology in terms of texture and orientation. The basic structure of plastics is explained, along with the characterization of both polymer and plastics products.

While plastics may be made from just about any organic polymer, most industrial plastic is made from petrochemicals. Thermoplastics and thermosetting polymers are the two types of plastic.

The name "plastic" refers to the property of plasticity, the ability to deform without breaking. Plastics Books. The Mould Design Guide.
